Mi Esquinita

The First Photo Shoot

The following day after our third rehearsal (a Wednesday being that rehearsals are generally on Tuesdays) was an impromptu photo shoot. At the suggestion of Tim Rios of Los Gallos, we called Pete Flores, a wedding photographer wanting to break into more substantial photography. With permission from the Houston Continental Club, we used the premises and surrounding area for our first shoot. Humble as they were, we were able to use some of the photos to place on the LSV website.

On an advance call to tell the Continental Club that we were on our way for the photo shoot, the manager asked if we’d have our instruments. When I replied that we could, he suggested that we play after a band that would be stopping early, well, at midnight. David De La Garza immediately put a call out to some friends and a little chain reaction occurred. There were about 20-25 people that turned out and heard a free LSV public rehearsal. Although we didn’t wish for a switch over, it was a bit interesting to watch the club clientele morph from folkie hippie dread lock drummer jammers to a pretty conservative Raza crowd.
