Mi Esquinita

Sons of Hermann Hall Dallas, TX

Our 2nd performance was yet a tad easier. Although we played without our saxophonist, Nate Smith, David De La Garza handled the horns on various settings of his keyboards besides handling his vocal duties as well. Needles to say he was a busy man. Nate’s involvement in LSV maybe limited to non existent due to day gig necessities. We hope that at some point he’ll be able to come back to the fold, but if not, he will always be a Super Vato to us.

The gig was at the Sons of Hermann Hall in Dallas, a benefit for KNON public radio. We had the honor of being the opening band for The Red Elvises. The Red E’s were extremely kind and brotherly not only for their generosity for allowing us to use their equipment but mostly for their encouragement and genuine interest. We are very honored by this. LSV hopes to perform more dates with The Red Elvises in the future. Perhaps an LA performance with them would be in order. The interaction with the Elvises was a fine example of the potential brotherhood between two bands with different ethnic back grounds. I personally loved peripherally hearing bits and pieces of conversation between Los Super Vatos and The Red Elvises. The to and fro between Russian and Tex-Mex accents was very melodic and a beautiful song in itself. Oh and we both have songs about belly dancing.

We were happy and uplifted to see Mr and Mrs Jeffrey Barnes immediately whirl in and dance, as well as Alan Emert both of Brave Combo.
